Public workshop on revision to Reg. 1108 Sulfur Oxide Emissions from Fuel Burning Equipment

Meeting Description  MEETING DESCRIPTION
This revision is to reduce the allowable content of sulfur in fuel oils being combusted in all three counties in Delaware and to extend the maximum sulfur in fuel requirement, currently applicable to New Castle County, statewide. Use of fuel oils with lower sulfur contents will effectively reduce emissions of sulfur dioxide (SO2). The reductions will also reduce acid rain and fine particulate matter and aid in reaching visibility goals of the federal regional haze program.
Educate the public and the affected industry on the subject issue and the draft revision to Regulation 1108, and to hear comments and recommendations to aid in the development of this revision. The draft regulation is currently available on DAQ’s regulatory web site at http://www.dnrec.delaware.gov/whs/awm/Info/Regs/Pages/Section1108.aspx and will also be provided at the workshop.
