DNREC is requesting EPA's assistance at the Newark South Groundwater Plume Site in southeast Newark. State and City of Newark officials, with the support from the EPA, will discuss the upcoming investigation work proposed by the EPA on groundwater contamination in the area and identification of potential sources.
For more information, please call Christina Wirtz at 302.395.2600. ; A brief presentation of the siteâ€™s history will be given by DNRECâ€™s Site Investigation & Restoration Section, while Newark officials will discuss the ongoing, successful treatment of the public supply water at the cityâ€™s South Well Field Treatment Plant, which ensures Newarkâ€™s drinking water meets all primary and secondary maximum contaminant levels specified by the Safe Drinking Water Act and DPHâ€™s Office of Drinking Water. Representatives will be available after the presentation at information stations to answer questions.
